MONROE, Mich. - La-Z-Boy's factory in Dayton, Tenn., has been named a finalist for the 2012 Best Plants Award from Industry Week magazine.
It is the fourth consecutive year the plant has been recognized as a finalist. Winners will be announced at Industry Week's annual Best Plants Conference, April 22- 24 in Greenville, S.C.
"It is an honor to have our facility recognized among the best, not just once, but for four years in a row," said Darrell Edwards, vice president of manufacturing at La-Z-Boy. "We have a dedicated team of employees who are committed to excellence - not just in the products we produce, but in all areas, including safety, quality, delivery and productivity."
The publication selects the finalists based on manufacturing performance as well as a comprehensive focus on continuous improvement.
Earlier this year, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development also presented the factory with the Commissioner's Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health.
"The evaluation criteria for this award are challenging, and this company has worked extremely hard to meet and exceed the standards this award requires," said Karla Davis, commissioner of the department.
About 1,300 people are employed at the factory, which produces stationary and motion upholstery, ottomans and related products.
