Surya's Satya Tiwari named to publication's 40 Under 40 list

CALHOUN, Ga. — Satya Tiwari, Surya's U.S. president, has been named to the 2012 Atlanta Business Chronicle's 40 Under 40 list, recognizing the accomplishments of the area's most successful young professionals.

Honorees must demonstrate leadership, professional achievement and community service. This year more than 500 nominations were received for the award and winners were selected by a committee of 40 Under 40 alumni.

Since joining his father's company, Surya, in 2004, Tiwari has grown the business 24-fold and has made the brand a recognized leader in the rug and home accessories industry. The company said it has achieved double-digit growth in seven of the past eight years and today it works with more than 60% of the top 200 U.S. furniture retailers.

Surya also is dedicated to community stewardship, partnering with nonprofits East Meets West and the Akshaya Patra Foundation, which provide food and other resources for impoverished youth at schools in Vietnam and India.

"I am thrilled to be a recipient of this year's 40 Under 40 awards - and finding myself in the company of so many other successful young professionals here in the Atlanta area," said Tiwari.

Tiwari and other 40 Under 40 recipients were recognized at an awards dinner held in November at the Atlanta History Center.
