Aaron's promotes two to senior VP of operations posts

ATLANTA — Rent-to-own merchant Aaron's said that David L. Buck and Tristan J. Montanero have each been promoted to senior vice president of operations, effective Jan. 1.

Buck was vice president, southwestern operations, and Montanero was vice president, central operations.
Buck's responsibility includes the Southwestern, Mid-American, Western, Midwestern, Great Lakes and Mississippi Valley divisions. Montanero will oversee operations of the Southeastern, Northern, Central, Carolina and Northeastern divisions.

Both are based at the company's headquarters in Atlanta and will continue to report to Ken Butler, chief operating officer.

"Both of these gentlemen have a long, outstanding history with Aaron's and have been instrumental in the company's growth over the last several decades," said Ron Allen, Aaron's chairman, president and CEO. "Dave and Tristan each began their Aaron's careers as manager trainees and now serve as exemplary operations leaders."

After a 10-year career with Remco, Buck joined Aaron's in 1989 as a trainee and then store manager. Within two years, he was promoted to regional manager and subsequently regional vice president and operational vice president. He has won numerous Region of the Year awards and recently secured his second consecutive Best Overall Operations award for 2012. 

Montanero began his career with Aaron's after graduating from the University of Florida in 1994. He was promoted to a general manager the same year and became a district manager in 1996. Later, he became a regional manager and was promoted in 2002 to vice president, central operations. He has won Store of the Year, District of the Year and Region Manager of the Year awards.
