California manufacturers donate furniture to military families

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 28, 2012

OCEANSIDE, Calif. — Just in time for Christmas, members of the California Furniture Manufacturers Assn. gathered here to present tens of thousands of dollars worth of furniture and mattresses to military families, the scoopsandiego.com website reported.

CFMA asked its members for donations and partnered with Homefront San Diego, which works with the Navy League of San Diego and provided a list of furniture needs of families living on or near the Camp Pendleton and Miramar military bases in the San Diego area, the site said.

On its website, CFMA said it also planned to host a holiday party here Dec. 22 to treat military families with lunch, visits with Santa, toys for children - and the furniture.

Volunteers from CFMA and Homefront delivered furniture to families without access to trucks, according to scoopsandiego.com.
