Bassett Furniture adds warehouses in Seattle, Indianapolis
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 22, 2013
BASSETT, Va. — Bassett Furniture is adding regional warehouses in Seattle and Indianapolis, which will be stocked with best-selling SKUs to support the growth of the Bassett brand with independent furniture retailers, officials said.
"We are excited about the increased service levels that the addition of these two new warehouses will provide to Bassett dealers in the Pacific Northwest, Midwest and Canada," said Rob Spilman Jr., president and CEO of the full-line furniture source. "The six regional warehouses that we now operate represent our commitment to improving the operational capabilities of Bassett's dealer network."
Bassett said it uses supply chain analytics and forecasting to anticipate regional demand for best-selling SKUs, directing inventory from Asia to its U.S. warehouses in a program it calls Fast Forward. In-stock items including popular SKUs in bedroom, dining and occasional, as well as leather and motion upholstery, are available to retailers with no additional convenience surcharge, the company said.
The company's other regional warehouses are in Bassett, Va.; Conover, N.C.; Dallas, and Riverside, Calif. SKUs housed at the facilities include wood bedroom, dining and occasional as well as leather and motion upholstery. The items are available to independent furniture retailers with no additional convenience surcharge, officials said.
Bassett will show its Fast Forward items next week in the company's Las Vegas Market showroom, World Market Center A-953.
