Storis to introduce eRoam mobile app for retailers

Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, January 22, 2013

MOUNT ARLINGTON, N.J. — Retail technology provider Storis will introduce its eRoam mobile application at next week's Las Vegas Market.

Developed for use with iPads, eRoam gives users a way to display product images and details; create shopping carts and convert them to sales orders; scan product labels; view customers' current and past purchases and credit availability; email copies of shopping carts and more, according to a release.

The app is expected to be available for purchase by Storis' Vision9 software clients by the end of the first quarter, the company said. Storis did not disclose the expected purchase price.

At the Jan. 28-Feb. 1 market, eRoam will be demonstrated in the Retailer Resource Center in World Market Center C-496, booths 17 and 18.

At Storis' most recent Product Advancement Symposium focusing on the future of mobile applications, retailer attendees expressed interest in helping shape the new product, the company said.

"Our goal was to develop a robust, fully integrated mobile application," said David Berger, Storis director of product management. "We asked our clients to give us feedback on the areas of their business that require the highest priority for a mobile solution."

More than 80% of the top suggestions from the symposium are incorporated into the initial release, he said.

The eRoam app will be fully integrated with Storis' Vision9 platform.

Consumers will be able to create a shopping cart on the retailer's website, walk into a showroom and have the sales representative update the cart on an iPad. It can then be converted to a sales order, allowing additional tasks, such as product reservation, credit application submission and delivery completion.
