Glideaway Sleep Products offers latex sleep line

David Perry -- Furniture Today, January 30, 2013

LAS VEGAS - Glideaway Sleep Products is introducing a new latex specialty sleep line here and is also adding a high-end mattress protector to its product mix.
The St. Louis-based company is showing here in its first standalone showroom, World Market Center C-1537.
The new specialty sleep line is the Natural Awakenings by Sleepharmony Collection. Designed to offer the coolest night's sleep, the collection includes the eight-inch Nightshade, the 10-inch Calypso and the 12-inch Primrose. Each features a temperature-regulating treatment within the ticking to provide moisture management and a top layer of latex to allow more room temperature air flow, removing heat from the body and assuring a more restful night's sleep, according to the company.
"Consumer interest in latex and gel mattresses is helping to expand the specialty sleep category," said Dan Baker, Glideaway's vice president of sales. "We felt that the time was right for Glideaway to introduce a collection that combined natural materials with the newest technologies available on the market. Natural Awakening's temperature-regulating and natural properties, along with affordable price points, are key features for retailers. Through the addition of this collection, we can continue to provide retailers with products that are stylish, solve a common problem, and are value priced."
The Natural Awakening Collection uses CertiPUR-US certified memory foam. The multi-knit cover available on all models is allergen resistant, anti-microbial and anti-static. Retail prices range from $999 to $1,799 in queen.
Also new from Glideaway is a high-end Comfort Premier mattress protector. Made from natural wool with a Silpure silver treatment, the new protector marks Glideaway's first entry in the high-end top-of-bed protection products arena. It retails for $129.
The new Comfort Premier protector cushions the body while wicking away moisture. The Silpure silver treatment technology fights odor-causing bacteria, providing long-lasting freshness. Natural wool provides not only added comfort, but the benefits of being hypoallergenic, durable and breathable, according to the company. The protector features waterproof protection to guard against stains from spills.
Glideaway is also adding two new models to complete its "basic, good, better, best" program. The full lineup consists of the smooth Comfort Basic, microfiber Comfort Plush and terry Comfort Luxe protectors. The Comfort Basic option features a smooth, stretch fabric.
In the "good" category, the Comfort Plush protector is made with a breathable material providing a protective barrier from allergens and dust mites. Made with a soft layer of terry, the Comfort Luxe protector allows heat and moisture to transfer out of the mattress and fills the "better" category. The "best" offering is the new Comfort Premier.
All the products feature waterproof protection, are durable and Oeko-Tex textile tested, the company said.

Furniture Marketing Group Symposium draws 200 to Las Vegas

Throughout Furniture Marketing Group's 2013 Symposium here, one theme was driven home time and again: The days of sitting back and watching the traffic rush into your store are gone. Retailers need to lift their game, becoming that competitor they dread, and pull out all the stops when it comes to engaging their customers.
