Fortegra Financial acquires warranty administrator 4Warranty

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 31, 2013

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Fortegra Financial Corp., a publicly held insurance services company based here, has acquired 4Warranty, a Jacksonville company that administers warranty and service contracts sold by furniture, electronics and appliance retailers and other specialty stores.

Fortegra said the acquisition allows the company to be more vertically integrated since some of its other business units underwrite warranty and service contracts.

"We are pleased with the progress we have made developing our warranty and service contract business and it continues to be a growth focus for the company," said Richard Kahlbaugh, Fortegra's CEO. "The acquisition of a quality administration company provides us with a vertically integrated solution, expanding our risk management and service capabilities to our clients."

Fortegra's other brands include Life of the South, Consecta, Bliss & Glennon, eReinsure, Pacific Benefits Group, Universal Equipment Recovery Group and South Bay Acceptance Corp.
