Matthews joins Emerald as VP of sales

MatthewsTACOMA, Wash. - Al Matthews has joined furniture and bedding source Emerald Home Furnishings as vice president of sales.
     Matthews will report to David Beckmann, president of Emerald, and will be responsible for managing the company's in-house and external sales representatives and for furthering the company's global sales and channel development initiatives. He fills a post that has been vacant since July.
     "Al comes to us with a wealth of experience and expertise earned during a remarkable career in the furniture industry," said Beckmann.
     "We welcome his leadership and look forward to the meaningful impact he will have in helping to shape the future of Emerald Home Furnishings as a world class supplier."
     Matthews most recently was vice president of sales for Ashley Furniture Inds. Earlier, he was regional manager for Bassett Furniture Inds., a regional vice president at La-ZBoy and in retail for Norwalk and Havertys.
