TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — Kincaid Furniture says its Upholstery Division plant here has achieved a safety milestone, operating without a single lost-time accident since April 10, 2007.
"Safety is our number one goal," said Reggie Propst, Kincaid's senior vice president of operations. "The 87 employees in our Taylorsville plant are to be commended for their ongoing efforts to increase safety awareness."
Propst added that the plant's management team and Stephanie St. Pierre, Kincaid's director of safety and compliance, have been successful in emphasizing the importance of safety and implementing "the best safety practices in industrial safety and health."
The company also instituted a plant-wide process that improved efficiency and cleanliness, implemented safety reminders that are shared with employees and increased management involvement and feedback.
"Besides controlling costs, having a safer manufacturing plant has improved attendance and plant morale along with promoting an increased sense of teamwork and accomplishment," Propst said.
Kincaid thanked the Taylorsville employees by hosting a recent cookout lunch.
