Alan J. Ponce Sr, retired Ashley sales representative

VANDALIA, N.C. - Alan J. Ponce Sr., a retired sales representative with Ashley Furniture, has died at age 81.
     Ponce joined Ashley as a sales rep in 2002 when he was hired by his son, Alan Ponce Jr., who works in marketing at the manufacturer. Ponce Sr., whose territory included southern Ohio and part of West Virginia, retired in 2008.
     In his leisure time, the elder Ponce was active in sports, including golf, handball and tennis.
     Survivors include his son, three daughters, five grandchildren, a sister, a sister-in-law, a nephew and many close friends. Memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice of Dayton.
