HIGH POINT — Ed Myers, a longtime International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. member and former president and chairman of the group, will receive IHFRA's prestigious Rudy Steltemeir Award next month.
Myers, a member of the Tri-State HFRA and a territory manager for Broyhill in Pennsylvania and Maryland, will receive the award at IHFRA's Presidential Gala on April 19, the eve of the High Point Market.
According to the association, the award recognizes someone who has gone beyond the "call of duty" as an IHFRA member and sales representative. It is named for the late Rudy Steltemeir, a Tennessee sales rep for 66 years who often assisted his colleagues, helping them get lines or lending them money to get through lean times.
Myers started his industry career at retailer Drexel Hill Furniture in Springfield, Pa., where he was chief operating officer and merchandiser until 1999. He has worked for Broyhill for more than 13 years and was named the company's Sales Representative of the Year in 2009.
He was IHFRA's 71st president in 2009 and board chairman the following year. He also serves as a rep ambassador for the High Point Market Authority has also appointed Myers as a Rep Ambassador where he continues to serve in that capacity, and has been active in IHFRA's Tri-State chapter.
The IHFRA Presidential Gala and Awards Dinner is set for April 19 in the International Home Furnishings Center ballroom. Information on the event is available by contacting the IHFRA office at (336) 889-3920 or by e-mail ihfra@ihfra.org. Reservations may be made online at www.ihfra.org.
