SOUTHPORT, Ind.— John and Cheryl Gerdt, owners of Gerdt Furniture here, which is going out of business, have been sued by a family member who claims he is owed nearly $4 million, according to a report in The Indianapolis Star.
John Gerdt's brother George Gerdt said the couple owes him the money for unpaid rent and promissory notes. He is asking for an accounting of the going-out of-business sales that are running at the Castleton store, which closed last year, and the flagship Southport, Ind. store.
