Eagle Inds. lays off 300, cites possible purchase

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Eagle Inds. has laid-off about 300 workers at its plant here and is in talks with an investor for a possible purchase of the entertainment furniture and case goods manufacturer, ABC-affiliate WBKO here is reporting.
According to the story, Eagle management said the company was asked to suspend production while the transaction takes place.
The layoff could last a few weeks and isn't expected to be permanent, the story said.
The new investment group would give the company capital to broaden its product line, it reported.
Company officials were not immediately available for comment.
