Blogger, designer Coco's rug line debuts at Capel

HIGH POINT —Although shelter blogger and textile designer Coco gets countless emails every day, one stood out.
"About a year and a half ago, the creative director at Capel contacted me; she was a blog reader. She said she loved the blog and had seen some of my designs for my pillow collection and she asked if I wanted a rug collection," Coco recalled. "I get lots of emails every day and I thought, ‘Oh, my gosh, a rug collection.' I was floored."
After working with Capel throughout the process, Coco got a sneak peek at the finished Cococozy collection a few months ago.
"I first saw a few of the rugs in New York in January and I was amazed by the construction. I knew what my designs looked like but I trusted Capel, who are the experts in rugs," she said.
Cameron Capel, vice president of national accounts for Capel, said Coco was nearly overcome when the rugs debuted.
"It brought tears to her eyes, I think she was so overwhelmed with emotion," Capel said. "She was so excited to see her name and the rugs with it. The display in the showroom is perfect; it's gorgeous, it's inspired by her blog and it looks like her. She was thrilled."
Coco visited Capel's High Point Market showroom at Market Square 112 for Cocktails with Coco on Monday to launch the collection. The market runs through Thursday.
She said that when she started her Cococozy blog - which provides interior design and lifestyle inspiration - five years ago, a rug collection wasn't even on her radar.
"I never imagined, when I started a blog five years ago, that I would be here with a huge rug collection that's so wonderfully done. It's been a thrill," Coco said.
Made from a 100% wool hand-knotted Indo-Tibetan weave, the Cococozy for Capel Rugs line showcases Coco's signature The Oxford rug in navy patterns and textures in a variety of colors, including pink, navy and peacock blue. The five collections include 24 rugs.
