LOS ANGELES - Case goods source Abbyson Living has named Alex Chow head of product design, a new position at the company.
Chow's responsibilities include developing samples with a goal of bringing furniture items to market more quickly a press release said. He joined the company in January and reports to Rodd Rafieha, vice president of sales.
"One of the things that has kept Abbyson Living at the forefront of the home furnishing industry is our ability to stay current and offer timeless, tasteful designs that would be a welcome addition to any home," Rafieha said in a press release. "Bringing Alex on board not only renews our commitment to innovative design, but he brings a wealth of experience that will help us engage our customers in a whole new way."
Yavar Rafieha, vice president of Abbyson, said Chow will help oversee plans for 350 new designs to be launched this year. Phases one and two will debut in Las Vegas this summer.
Chow will supervise efforts by Abbyson to be a cross-category brand, Yavar Rafieha said, including efforts to update its traditional and contemporary lines, grow its upholstery line and launch an outdoor line in June.
He previously oversaw upholstery manufacturing on the West Coast for Nautica Home.
