BATON ROUGE, La. — The former operator of a furniture store here has pleaded guilty to wire fraud and sentenced to probation, according to a report by the Baton Rouge Advocate.
Ron Henderson, who managed American Wholesale Furniture on Florida Boulevard and his son Brett Henderson were indicted by a federal grand jury in 2008 for arson and making false statements, the story said.
Ron Henderson's attorney noted that none of five defendants in the case pleaded guilty to arson.
The earlier indictment claimed the Hendersons moved inventory from American Wholesale to a Mississippi furniture store owned by Ron Henderson, and three days later, set fire to the Baton Rouge store in a scheme to collect insurance money.
Two others - the store owner and Ron Henderson' ex-wife - also pleaded guilty to wire fraud in the cases, while the court dismissed charges against a fifth defendant, the report said.
