Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, May 20, 2013
HIGH POINT — A Miami urban architect has proposed revitalizing High Point's downtown area by encouraging entrepreneurship and making it more attractive for people to live there, the High Point Enterprise reports.
The newspaper report said architect Andres Duany and a team of planners spent a week in the city recently to evaluate the area and make recommendations for improvement.
Duany plans to present a full master plan to the city in September, but his preliminary list of recommendations includes, among other things, converting the vacant Showplace West showroom building into residential apartments, and allowing small business to temporarily occupy empty shipping containers.
