Stacy Plano location to soft open before Labor Day

PLANO, Texas - Stacy Furniture & Design confirmed plans to move back to this North Dallas market with a 43,250- square-foot showroom after having to give up its lease earlier this year on a former Robb & Stucky space.
The store in Preston Parker Crossing at the corner of Preston and Parker roads is slated to soft open right before Labor Day and grand open shortly after, said Dorian Stacy Sims, president of the Grapevine, Texas-based retailer. With the new location, Stacy will have four Dallas-Fort Worth-area stores including its outlet in Flower Mound, Texas.
Sims said retrofitting expenses for the space - a former LifeStyles furniture and lighting store - will be minimal and that the company is expecting annual sales of more than $12 million at the new location.
The upscale Stacy moved into the 112,400-square-foot former Robb & Stucky location in November 2011 under an 18-month lease, knowing there was a chance it would eventually have to move. Earlier this year, it learned the property was being taken back to make room for a 13-level office building.
Stacy held a moving sale through mid-April, and while Sims wouldn't release sales figures, she said the event did very well given how quickly Stacy put it together and handled on its own.
"Those sales were felt at all of our stores," she added, "not just the Plano location."
Sims said it will be a challenge moving into the new Plano store, a space less than half the size of its previous location here and its two full-line stores. But the company was able to keep its former Plano staff and is working to ensure its best sellers are represented well, and as long as that's accomplished, "we expect to get the same volume out of it."
"Huge stores aren't necessarily the only way to go," she said.
"We see plenty of retailers across the country that are successful in a much smaller footprint."
Key suppliers will include Bernhardt, Hooker, Sherrill, Henredon, Stickley, Universal, Mayo and Restonic, Spring Air and Dormeo in bedding.
