Katy Garrett to speak at Zaar Design Center during market
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 8, 2013
HIGH POINT — Zaar Design Center will host Katy Garrett, founder and CEO of Connexionsoft, for a lunch and learn educational event during this month's High Point Market.
In addition, two new exhibitors, Legacy Fine Casual Furniture and Distinctive Chesterfields, will show in the 12,000-square-foot Zaar center at 741 W. Ward Ave., the site of the former Drexel Heritage factory.
At noon Sunday, Oct. 20, Garrett will present "How to Think Like a Million Dollar Designer." She has developed project management software for interior designers, aiming to change their approach, save time and redefine the way design is managed.
"Katy Garrett is a very positive and energetic person who is not afraid of a challenge," said Ruth Olbrych, Zaar Design Center founder. "She is the type of person who brings those around her up and inspires you. I think this will be an extremely informative luncheon that is sure to provide the designers who attend a refreshing new way to look at design and change the course of their business."
Zaar has as its anchor Antiques by Zaar, Olbrych's 14-year-old company that specializes in Chinese antique furniture. This fall is the 20th market in which Antiques by Zaar will participate as an exhibitor.
Legacy Fine Casual Furniture specializes in indoor/outdoor furniture hand-made in Mexico. Jeanne Glenn will be taking appointments and working with Olbrych to provide designers with information about Legacy's offerings.
Zaar also serves as the sole U.S.-based showroom for Distinctive Chesterfields, a British leather furniture source.
"It is very exhilarating to be involved with a furniture company that in many ways is becoming the new British invasion," Olbrych said. "They're even supplying the furniture for this year's ‘X Factor' house."
