See what has hot at the High Point Furniture Market

I'm always on the lookout for that "wow" factor at market. At times I ignore my to-do list and just soak in the ambiance of a showroom.
When a piece of furniture makes me stop and listen to it, I know I have a winner! Here are a few of my top picks from the recent High Point Furniture Market.
Your furry little companion for comfort, this chair from Fremarc is decked out in the hottest trend for 2007, the unexpected material mix-up. This plushy treatment immediately says "look at me!" and can be used to add an element of surprise and playfulness to the dining scene.
Beauty with function, this modular credenza from Ferguson Copeland for plasma TVs solves the problem of support cabinetry for the currently super-hot home electronics item. Beautifully detailed with gentle curves and a faux croc finish, the cabinet has the added feature of a laser sensor, so all of the electronics can be in operation while the cabinet is closed and looking good.
Stunning and a bit over the top, the embellished shades on lighting by designer Charles Marder for Haute House is reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour and jewels. This piece, accessorized with peacock feathers and jeweled embroidery, is ready for its Academy Awards acceptance speech.
Designer Mariette Hines Gomez has created a standout piece for Hickory Chair. The Superstar table is comprised of 3,800 wooden stars that have been hand glued into a chocolate brown resin mix and then filled in by pouring metallic pulverized stone around them, giving the impression of an almost unbelievable inlay.
The Dagmar chair has been redressed and taken out to the Rue de Provence Collection by Highland House. A softer, more feminine role is enhanced with silk violets embroidered onto an open ground of linen. This stylized wing chair is reminiscent of the '20s Paris modern mood.
This finely crafted dining chair from Italmond was inspired by 17th century France and is detailed with a woven slat back, triangular-shaped turnings on its stretchers and graceful swooping arms. This will make a statement in the dining room or as an elegant sitting piece in any room of the house.
