McKay out at Comfort SolutionsHinsdale, Ill.— Larry McKay, president of Comfort Solutions, said this week he has left the company. Dave Roberts, formerly executive vice president, has been named chief operating officer.
Under McKay's leadership, Comfort Solutions, formerly known as King Koil, underwent significant changes. He said that during his five years there, revenues grew 55% to $163 million last year.
"I've had a good career in the bedding industry, with many friends and many successes," he told Furniture/Today. "I'm looking forward to my next success."
McKay is a bedding veteran. He spent 17 years at Sealy, moving up the ranks to senior management, where he handled national accounts. He also spent five years at Spring Air, with sales and marketing responsibilities, and was president of Serta's West Coast operations for a year. He joined King Koil in 2001.
Roberts joined King Koil at the same time as McKay. He has been executive vice president, and as COO is now responsible for all day-to-day operations.
Roberts joined the bedding industry with Spring Air in 1993.
"In the last five years, the growth and transformation of our company has been tremendous under Larry's leadership," Roberts said. "The company is positioned well for more growth. We are all doing business differently and better than we were five years ago. We are moving ahead."
Garret Weyand remains CEO and chairman of King Koil Licensing Co., which does business as Comfort Solutions. He said there will be no search for a president. "That title is no longer being used," he said.
