Company also plans market giveawaysHIGH POINT — Powell will turn back the clocks 40 years on Monday, April 7, for its 40th anniversary party in its High Point Market showroom.
Market staff will be dressed in attire from the 1960s, 1970s or 1980s, and the music also will definitely be retro. A slideshow will feature images of the importer’s warehouses, furniture and catalogs throughout the decades, as well as photos showing how Powell folks looked in the past.
“We’re proud to have been one of the top furniture importers in the country for the past 40 years,” said Sean Slack, executive vice president. “This party will be a fun way to celebrate that milestone, and we hope the industry will join us in marking how far we’ve all come in that time.”
Powell kicked off its anniversary celebration at the Las Vegas Market in January, when it began offering 40 weeks of one-week-only deals called Ruby Specials, named for the 40th anniversary gemstone. The deals, offered through the company’s innovative Powell Retailers Online program, will continue through the week of Oct. 27.
In addition, as High Point Market promotions, retailers placing orders starting at $5,000 can qualify for giveaway prizes of a Nintendo Wii game system, a 42-inch Toshiba LCD television, or a Garmin Nuvi 200 global positioning system.
