AT THE MARKET — American furniture manufacturers can learn about “Seizing Furniture Export Opportunities” under U.S.-negotiated free trade agreements at a High Point Market breakfast meeting Thursday, April 10.
Patrick Kirwan, a trade economist with the U.S. International Trade Administration, and Jay Reardon, president of manufacturer Hickory Chair, will share their insights. Kirwan will talk about how free trade agreements can strengthen export business, and Reardon will talk about his company’s emerging export program.
In addition, representatives of two big foreign retailers — South Korea’s The Gallery and Brown Antiques in the United Kingdom — will outline what American manufacturers need to know about their markets for greater success.
The International Home Furnishings Center and the High Point Market Authority are co-sponsoring the breakfast, which will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. in Ballroom B on the IHFC’s Club Level, Green wing. Seating is limited, and a buffet breakfast will be available.
“Exports are a bright spot for manufacturers wanting to increase business, especially now with the dollar’s favorable exchange rate,” said Tom Lindh, IHFC president and CEO. “Learning how to take advantage of free trade agreements can be extremely helpful to our American furniture manufacturers.”
