Will include hotel, casino and performing arts center

LAS VEGAS — City officials will formally inaugurate a project Thursday to develop 61 acres here near the World Market Center that’s expected to revive downtown Las Vegas, according to a New York Times story.

More than $6 billion in private funding has been announced for projects including an Alzheimer’s research center, a 60-story center for jewelry trading, a hotel, a casino-resort, thousands of residential units and office space. The centerpiece will be a $360 million performing arts center.
