RALEIGH, N.C. — A budget proposal in the North Carolina House would slice 1% from the High Point Market’s state funding for marketing and promotions, according to an article in the Greensboro News & Record.
Under the proposed budget, which could come to a vote in the House next week, the market would get about $866,000 for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1. For the current year, the market received $875,000. Local lawmakers had sought to raise the marketing budget to $2.6 million for the coming year.
The proposed budget does not affect funding for the market’s massive shuttle system, which comes from the state Department of Transportation. The marketing and promotional funds would come from the state Commerce Department budget.
