LOS ANGELES — Hundreds of industry members attended the 17th annual West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament, a benefit that raised $550,000 for the City of Hope.
More than 330 played golf or tennis and upwards of 500 attended a reception and dinner to honor the philanthropic work and professional achievements of Bob Lawrence, CEO of buying group AVB/BrandSource, who won City of Hope’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
“This recognition is both humbling and inspiring,” said Lawrence. “But seeing our industry continue its longstanding support of City of Hope’s efforts to move discoveries quickly into better treatments is truly remarkable. I’m proud to be a part of our ongoing commitment to bring hope to cancer patients everywhere.”
City of Hope, a research and treatment center for cancer and other life-threatening diseases, has received more than $4.5 million in donations from the West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament since the event’s inception.
Created more than 40 years ago by a group of industry leaders, City of Hope’s National Home Furnishings Industry chapter has raised more than $40 million for the institution.
