Ann Navarra to retire from Jerome’s

Will leave San Diego retailer at end of July

Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, July 3, 2008

SAN DIEGO — Ann Navarra, co-owner and vice president of finance for Top 100 company Jerome’s here, plans to retire at the end of this month.

Navarra started working at the family-owned business as a child, dusting furniture. She joined the company officially in the early 1970s.

She said in a letter sent to employees and friends that during this month she intends to visit all five stores and the distribution center and corporate office to thank everyone for their “friendship and loyalty to our company.” She also said she plans to attend this month’s Las Vegas Market.

Jerome’s, led by President and CEO Lee Goodman, Ann Navarra and her brother Jerry Navarra, who is chairman, was honored this year with the Western Home Furnishings Assn.’s Retailer of the Year Award. The company was founded in 1954 by Jim and Esther Navarra and is still family-owned with seven members, including the third-generation, working there.
