Austin Gray to occupy former Carson’s showroom
Brownlow firm acquires High Point property

HIGH POINT — Brownlow Investments has purchased the former Carson’s showroom at 208 E. Green Drive here and will lease a portion of it to case goods importer Austin Gray.
Randy Brownlow, president of Austin Gray and principal in the investment firm, said the furniture company will lease up to 8,000 square feet of the two-story, 24,000-square-foot space in time for the October market. The three and a half-year-old company had been showing in a 3,500-square-foot space at 100 S. Main St.
Brownlow said he hopes to lease the remaining space at 208 E. Green to other tenants in time for October.
Brownlow Investments purchased the building from the Stout family, who also are principals at Carson’s. A purchase price for the property was not immediately available, but the sale closed on July 16, according to Ivan Garry, a local commercial real estate professional with Brown Investment Properties who brokered the deal.
Garry said Carson’s built the showroom in 1975. It decided to list it for sale about seven months ago after it decided to exit the residential furniture business in pursuit of the contract and hospitality furniture segment.
