Furniture Transport Group expands services

Now offering light assembly in New Jersey

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, July 29, 2008

AT THE MARKET — Furniture Transport Group is expanding its import container warehousing and light assembly services to its Ridgefield, N.J., facility.

The light assembly to be offered at the 60,000-square-foot center will be in addition to the light assembly available at Hickory, N.C.-based FTG’s 550,000-square foot warehouse in Eden, N.C.

It “makes for a stronger business proposition for FTG and adds an even deeper advantage to customers,” said Keith Close, vice president of operations of MGM Transport, which is part of FTG along with Caldwell Freight Lines and Foothills Trucking.

At market, FTG has a booth in the Western Home Furnishings Assn.’s Retailer Resource Center, World Market Center B-1630.

“With warehousing capabilities and distribution from the West Coast to the East Coast and from Canada all the way down to Florida, we have the capability of picking up imported goods, delivering them to a distribution center close to their final destination and either warehousing the goods or assembling and distributing them for customers as needed,” Close said in a press release.

The Eden distribution center added light assembly in 2005. All told, FTG has 17 facilities with 1.5 million square feet of distribution space.
