Just in case you aren’t convinced that green is on the grow, consider this: There are now a small but growing number of real estate agents known as ecobrokers. And, as if you even had to ask, ecobrokers specialize in marketing a small but growing number of green homes coming on the market.
And jus as the mighty oak tree springs from a tiny acorn, observers say the market for green or eco-friendly homes is likely to follow that same cycle. In fact, the National Home Builders Association says that this market segment is expected to blossom from $7.4 billion to a whopping $38 billion over the next two years.
And as of last year, about 100,000 homes across the country had been certified green, according to the National Association of Home Builders.
Also, at the most recent International Builders’ Show held earlier this year in Orlando, the NAHB launched a number of green initiatives, including the Certified Green Professional seal, a label designed to inform home buyers that their builder embraces green practices.
When asked about the significance of this move, Brian Catalde, president of the HAHB, said, “We know green is the future of building. With the Certified Green Professional designation, we're helping our qualified members demonstrate to their clients that the future is here."
Looks like home, sweet home is going to include green, sweet green!
