Madame Gayle’s cards a good deal for bedding

August 22, 2007

An improving forecast for the bedding industry is in the cards. Tarot cards, that is.

I know you die-hard realists out there may not put any stock in such things, but don’t be too quick to dismiss the possibility the cards might offer us some valuable information.

You got any better insights? I didn’t think so.

I met Madame Gayle in Serta’s showroom during the recent Las Vegas Market. She and a colleague were doing Tarot card readings for retailers visiting the space. Serta officials insisted that I get a reading. I did, and it was right on.

Gayle consulted the five cards that I picked and declared that I was a creative person. Dead on, Gayle. Then she said that my market week was going to be extremely busy. Dead on again. And she predicted an award for me in the future. Who am I to doubt her on that prediction after she nailed those first two readings?

Next, I asked Gayle what kind of year is in the cards for Serta. That producer will have “a very good” year, she responded. It will be “a strong business year” for Serta, despite a general downturn in the economy.

Madame Gayle, who does psychic Tarot card readings several times a year in Las Vegas, also has some thoughts on the state of business this fall. She based her predictions on the 2 of Swords and the 3 of Cups, cards she selected for a special reading at my request.

Hey, I try to be helpful.

“My feeling from these cards is that, going into the fall season, sales are somewhat sluggish,” Gayle said. “The numbers won’t necessarily be down, but I don’t see any large gains either. The 2 of Swords suggests a blockage of sorts. My interpretation of this would be that influences outside the industry will have a negative effect on sales during the next several months.”

Need I say “housing slump” to tell you that Gayle is onto something here?

But there is hope with the 3 of Cups, which offers “a very positive outlook for the winter months. This card represents an increase in sales overall. This, of course, leads to a much more positive, even jovial attitude for people in the industry. I do feel the increase in sales will be moderate, but just enough to restore confidence.”

That’s what we all want to hear: Business will pick up this winter. Attitudes will be good, even jovial. We will regain confidence in our future. This is great news.

Thanks, Gayle, for that forecast. And I’m looking forward to that award, whatever may be in the cards.

Here's my insight. Essentia, EssentiaDirect.com, will take over in the next year. I've done a lot of research and their mattresses by far outperform anything out there. Sleeping on one for the past month confirms this. Go Essentia!
