Wife's murder latest tragedy to hit Barragan
And now this, a horrifying story that adds another chapter to a string of tragedies haunting mattress executive Napoleon
Barragan.
Kay Barragan, the estranged wife of 1800mattress.com founder Napoleon Barragan, is found dead in her home. The son who lived with her, a son with a history of mental problems, is charged with her murder.
“How many tragedies does this man have to endure?” one long-time friend asked. It is a good question, one that brings the
trials of this modern-day Job into focus.
The Barragans lost a daughter several years ago, and then, a few years later, they lost a son, Luis, who drowned while on a
family vacation. Luis, an up-and-coming executive at 1800mattress.com, was Barragan’s heir-apparent. His death cast a long shadow over the company, which has been struggling in the mattress industry downturn.
Those struggles saw the company make a bankruptcy filing a few months ago. Now there is a battle brewing over who will
acquire the company. The future of 1800mattress.com is up in the air.
In the midst of that uncertainty, another personal tragedy strikes Nap Barragan. The pain caused by this one must be almost unbearable. The woman who helped him launch 1800mattress.com is gone. A family is in crisis.
Nap has many friends in the mattress industry. They will pull together in these dark days, and they will do their best to
comfort him. Nap: We are keeping you and your family in our prayers.

Dear Nap,
Ignore all that judge. Listen to and allow only those who show you true love and acceptance, in your space. May peace find it's way to your heart and my you receive the strength you will need to endure this awful tragedy.
All that know you, know how much you have already endured and also know the man you really are. A kind, giving, compassionate and caring human being, a good man with a good heart.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and I send you only good and positive thoughts, now and always.
With fond memories from an old friend in the mattress industry.

God bless this man. How terrible each tragedy is all on its own and to have to endure such an unbelievable string of them - unbearable, indeed. Having endured a few of my own, I know we all do what we have to do to get by, finding the strength in places we would have never guessed or were unaware of, but one would have to wonder just how could someone mentally, emotionally survive after all this man has been through. You, Mr. Barragan, a total stranger to me and I to you, are in my thoughts and prayers and I wish you the will to make it through each and every day in hopes of finding the happiness you so deserve. - Karen Parker, Owner - Froggie Went To Market
