Let’s give Beautyrest line a chance
Attention Simmons critics. It’s time for you to get real.
My story on the launch of the new Beautyrest line was only a few hours old in cyberspace when the critics pounced. One said the new Beautyrest offering “is the same Beautyrest line.” Another said the new line “will still be a confusing sea of white rectangles.” A third said the new line won’t matter if Simmons doesn’t treat its dealers better.
I’ve got a simple question for those who are already passing judgment on the line: Have you seen it? And if you haven’t, might I recommend you resist the urge to comment on something you know absolutely nothing about.
Guess what? I have seen the line, which will be introduced at the Las Vegas Market next week. I think it’s a pretty impressive offering. I think it’s strongly merchandised, looks great, and is backed with solid marketing support. Those are my personal opinions, based on a thorough review of the line.
I suggest you pesky Simmons critics give the company a chance. Why don’t you actually look at the line before you so casually dismiss it? Is that asking too much? I think not.

Clearly "Awake" and "Ditto" have Simmons on their paycheck. Who are you kidding? You're going to fly to Vegas just to look at mattresses? Back to the drawing board. Denial ain't just a river.

I wasn't going to Las Vegas but I'm going now after a dealer friend saw the line. I hear great merchandising and killer point of sale. Get ready to see the other guys try to copy them.

I've seen it and have to ask the question, "why change?" It is a huge expense and the old product is fine. There are no significant differences beyond fabric and labels.

I came looking for a blog from you that was titled "So will your flight for Vegas leave?" I'm supposed to head out Saturday morning, through CLT. I have a feeling I'll be staying on my little island and avoiding what is predicted to be the ice covered Piedmont. I hope to see the line, but it may be in Greensboro instead!

To those raising questions about my work: I am simply making the point that one shouldn't pass judgment on the line without seeing it first. I can't believe anyone can challenge that thought. To Drivel: This is my blog and it is where I share my opinions, both positive and negative. Hidden agenda? I don't think so, especially when it comes to Simmons who has been the subject of more than one unflattering article on this blog as have other majors in the industry (ours included). Dave calls people on the carpet when he thinks it's needed and gives credit where credit is due.

Well said, Dave. It's disheartening to see how negative our industry is about anyone who tries to introduce something new. I suggest that people go by Simmons' showroom at Market, see the line for themselves and then pass judgement.

I hope they go back to a two sided Beautyrest. People are cycling thru the one sided and do not want another one. Requests EVERY DAY for two sided.

The way you defend Simmons, it sounds like you are employed by them or have some hidden agenda. You posted a story and people responded. If it wasn't the response you wanted or expected, then that is Simmons fault and concern for past performance and customer service. I find it a little disconcerting that you feel the need to defend them, whether you think there new line is "pretty impressive" or not.

Dave-I hope you are right as it takes up a lot of floor space in our store ith little sales results. The best selling item in the line is a $599 eurotop, an outstanding value. The second is the Natural Care Latex. They have a recognizable name with the consumer so I hope you are right.
