NY Times offers refreshing bedding update
The New York Times was at the recent Las Vegas Market, and served up an interesting take on developments in Mattressville in its recent story.
I met the Times reporter, Joyce Wadler, at the bedding roundtable which we hosted at the recent market, an event she mentions in her story. And I gave her a brief overview of the busy Vegas bedding scene.
In her article, headlined “More Than a Place to Rest,” Wadler says the adjustable bed market “seems to be poised for growth,” and explores the delicate issue of lovemaking possibilities on an adjustable bed. And, speaking of the “S” word, Wadler aslo considers the new Playboy bed offered by Mattress Development Co. An executive there told her that “a little more bounce in bed improves the sexual act.”
Also covered in the Times story: Leggett & Platt’s Prodigy adjustable bed, Carpe Diem adjustable beds, the SpongeBob SquarePants line at Serta, the Tonino Lamborghini line at Magniflex, the OrganicPedic 81 at OMI, the new spring beds at Somnium, and the heating and cooling system offered by Chili Technology.
The story is a fun read, and it’s informative, too. And it’s always nice to see the major media outlets paying attention to the mattress category.

I think that it is great that this reporter was able to find a little "fun" in our industry. It's there, we just have to reach out and grab it.
