A class act returns to retailing
Wholley was one of the operators of Better Bedding of East Hartford, Conn., a respected retailer that went into Chapter 11 last year and was later sold to rival Sleepy's, based in Hicksville, N.Y. Since then Wholley has been looking for his next career. As it turns out, he didn't have to look far.
The Hartford Courant recently reported that Wholley has opened Connecticut Mattress in South Windsor, Conn. "I believe that America is really starting to look for, and taking a little bit more pride in supporting a real local retailer," he told the Courant.
The Wholley brothers — Tom and John — are a class act. They ran Better Bedding the right way, with honesty and integrity. I said it then and I'll repeat it now: We need more retailers with the integrity of the Wholley family.
Welcome back to the world of mattress retailing, Tom. And best wishes to your brother as he battles illness.
