This old dog is "Lucky" to be headed to the High Point Market
Before each market, the editors of FT and our sister publication Home Accents Today, give a market overview to our respective sales teams to bring them up to date on any and all trends we’ve picked up as we prepare for market.
After tell my usual corny “market jokes,” which this year consisted of sharing some off-the- wall headlines that actually found their way into the print versions of some reputable daily newspapers, I told the crew that a classified ad I had come across reminded me of the home furnishings business.
The classified read: Lost Dog! Mixed breed, missing left hind leg, no hair on rump, recently neutered. Answers to the name of “Lucky.”
Think about everything that our business has been through lately. It’s been an uphill road that sometimes seems to be paved with grease.
Despite all of that, we are still standing, we’ve regrouped, we’ve made market plans and will be downtown this week working those plans.
Even better, while we are far from out of the woods, I think business is slowly headed in the right direction.
Like Lucky, we may have been down, but we are anything but out. Yeah, we murmur, we grumble and complain, but I guarantee you that first thing Saturday morning, we will cleaned up, standing tall and in the game.
As I am writing this, I realize I’ve been coming to the market since the mid-1980’s. I’m not sure how long that is in dog years, but I admit to being an old dog who has been doing this a long time.
But even so, I’ll also admit that this old dog considers himself to be very lucky to be involved in a business populated by so many good people.

I'd like to send you an email. What is your email address? Mine is LAaugusta@aol.com This is in regard to a specific type of sofa with a straight back, and end reclining chairs. A sectional type for a window bay...smaller space.
Thank you. L.A. Combs
