Impact of logistics

February 22, 2013

Welcome to the launch of "Logistics and Home Delivery," where we'll be weighing in on various aspects of both and how they impact the retail furniture business.

Logistics, you'll likely agree, is a fuzzy word that encompasses many meanings, while home delivery sounds like mere after-sale heavy lifting. Truth be told, the process of procuring and distributing home furnishings involves so much more.

To that end, we'll address the concerns of retailers and discuss issues affecting home delivery, from fuel costs, prepping furniture, technology, and industry regulations, to hours of service, recruiting delivery contractors, safety, and warehousing.

We encourage you to be part of this online conversation. Your observations, comments, and questions will help focus the discussion and bring it all home.
Stay tuned for my upcoming posts.

Yellow goes great with any blue or purple.Yellow also works with green. Yellow walls would also work with a crisp grey any pink or red .Whatever you chose , make white a big accnet color.Without knowing your age, budget or bed size , I will pick some things I like to go with a yellow bedroom.=====#fn=sp%3D2%26spc%3D344= searchBinNameList=target_com_category-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Cpattern_name-bin%2Citem_styling%2Cprice searchRank=salesrank frombrowse=1have fun decorating.

Pat, Great idea for a much underestimated and misunderstood subject in the Home Furnishings and Interior Design Market Place. So many Professionals in the business forget that the "Sale" in not complete when the check clears. Confidently I feel that the Reputation of the Store/Designer is not cemented until the product is delivered and installed to the consumer.
This is a great opportunity for helping the "Sales Side" of the furniture business to fully realize the importance and effort that is put into successfully completing a home delivery. The Customer has likely been waiting for some amount of time to get their new piece of furniture delivered and installed. During this period of time they have anticipated being able to enjoy their new piece and have likely shared their excitement with the people most important to them. It can be devastating if the Delivery Service either damages the product or fails to meet the expectations of the end user.
The delivery process is, thought by many, to be a seemingly simple and less then elegant process. Being able to inform the industry professionals of the importance of the "Last Mile" of a transaction will likely bode well for the Industry and the Consumer. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you regarding your upcoming direction for your column. As an Industry Professional, we could really present some extraordinary information and advice to really drive increased Customer Satisfaction and mitigate the "cost" to Retailers and Designers of an errant or haphazard Home Delivery and Distribution program.
