FIDX meeting F2F and online

October 6, 2005

The next F2F (face-to-face) meeting of the Furniture Industry Data Exchange is planned for Oct. 11 at the Holiday Inn at the Charlotte airport. According to Ron Martell, FIDX steering committee chair, the meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and end no later than 4 p.m.

The meeting is notable for more than its agenda. It will be the first formal meeting that will be simultaneously accessible via the Internet. When FIDX passes along instructions for using the Net to “attend”, I’ll post them here.

Among the agenda items is a review of the freight invoice, freight bill of lading and product availability/vendor managed inventory schemas that have been approved since the last F2F meeting on March 16 in Greensboro.

The meeting will also look at the proposed product warranty schema and include a discussion of support for the schemas from retail management system vendors and from manufacturers. FIDX hopes to promote wider industry acceptance of the schemas and attendees will discuss how to do this.

To register for the meeting, visit FIDX.org.    (to add public comments click on "Add your Comment" below, or to email Brian directly click here.)
