Forecast: Flurries of intros at busy Las Vegas Market
Major mattress producers are unveiling a broad range of new bedding lines at the Las Vegas Market next week. New flagship lines are rolling out at each of bedding's Big Three: Serta, Sealy and Simmons.
The expansive mattress chart entries in this issue give readers their first comprehensive look at upcoming bedding introductions. There are dozens of mattress entries at your fingertips, courtesy of your friendly mattress writer.
The charts provide an outline of the competition that will be waged by bedding's Top 10 producers in the months to come.
No. 1 Serta will be touting its redesigned flagship Perfect Sleeper line, backed with a program that includes pillows and an adjustable foundation. And it says that "exciting" iComfort introductions are on the way - bad news for the competition given the strength of the iComfort line.
Sealy is seeking to regain ground lost to its rivals. Bedding's No. 2 producer comes to Vegas with a new Posturepedic collection topped with a hybrid line containing gel foam and innersprings. It is positioned above a line that features gel memory foam. Sealy is also showing an ultra high-end Stearns & Foster Monogram line, also with gel memory foam. So Sealy is betting heavy on gel memory foam this year.
No. 3 Simmons aims to build on momentum it has generated with its Recharge marketing campaign, an impressively executed program. Recognizing the power of its Recharge message, the producer is introducing the Beautyrest Recharge and Beautyrest Recharge World Class lines. Conforming back support and cool sleeping comfort are themes of the new lines.
Making perhaps the broadest package of introductions is Comfort Solutions, which is introducing new Perfect Contour and Posture Sense collections, and major redesigns of its Dr. Breus Bed and Natural Response and Extended Life lines..
Therapedic is showing gel memory foam in three of its four new Kathy Ireland Home models. The hybrid models feature a five-zone innerspring system. Therapedic is also offering aesthetic improvements in its Agility line of encased coils and gel memory foam.
Englander, an early entrant in the gel bedding category, aims to maintain its momentum with a number of new gel bedding lines, including its LifeStyle national line of hybrid specialty gel beds, and its gel-based Tension Ease and Anniversary models.
Kingsdown will show a new Kingsdown Kids line in the juvenile category, is rebranding its MySide collection as Sleep to Live, is offering new fabrics and colors in its Blu-Tek gel and specialty line, and is introducing its Sleep Smart system.
Those are just some of the highlights in the mattress charts. Careful mattress readers will find many more.
