Innerspring comeback in cards?
It's a word that can be a game changer in the bedding industry, its supporters say.
That word is: Hybrid.
Supplier Leggett & Platt will be talking about hybrids at the upcoming International Sleep Products Assn. Expo.
L&P officials note that pairing his company's fabric-encased Comfort Core innersprings with specialty foams like memory foam, gel and latex can give consumers cooler, more supportive sleep.
And innersprings aren't affected by the rising cost of oil, unlike memory foam and other foams, the L&P officials observe.
We're hearing that foam price increases are on the way, and that usually sparks some talk about producers putting more emphasis on innerspring beds.
Could growing interest in hybrid beds, combined with higher foam prices, position innerspring beds for a bit of a comeback? Or will that specialty sleep juggernaut keep rolling on?
