    SEATTLE — Almost any walkabout in downtown Seattle will lead pedestrians past the two giant spheres that anchor the Amazon headquarters campus, but the adjacent Amazon Go store is attracting its fair share of attention as well.

    An 1,800-square-foot store that allows shoppers to scan an app on their phone, grab their items of choice and walk out, Amazon Go is currently in Beta Tasting with Amazon employees, prompting speculation about the evolution of a retail experience devoid of long waits in line.

    SEATTLE — At the 2016 Furniture Today Leadership Conference, Progressive Business Media introduced its inaugural Furniture Industry Leadership Awards, a new recognition program in which retailers, manufacturers and consumers select the honorees.

    The first-of-its-kind industry awards program is designed to recognize best-in-class retail organizations at three sales volume levels: under $50 million, $51 million to $350 million and more than $350 million.

    The retail store winner in the $51 million to $350 million sales volume category for 2016 was Roche Bobois, described as “a unique play in the high-end market.” Founded in 1960, the family owned manufacturer/retailer now operates an international network of more than 250 stores in 50 countries, including this Seattle location, one of 27 stores in the U.S.
