hanny diabORLAND PARK, Ill. — Darvin Furniture & Mattress has promoted Hanny Diab to vice president of merchandising, marketing and sales, taking the lead over all three areas, effective immediately.

Diab is responsible for more than 100 employees at the more than 200,000-square-foot Chicagoland superstore. Formerly director of merchandising, Diab reports to Steve and Marty Darvin, co-owners of the 99-year-old Top 100 company.

Diab is a 25-year veteran of the industry and a lifelong resident of greater Chicago. He joined Darvin six years ago and now fills a position previously held by Lori Stengren, who left early last year.

“The Chicagoland market is incredibly competitive, and the development of our executive team is a continual process,” Steve Darvin said. “Hanny has tremendous experience, and he has a passion for the most important parts of our business.”

Marty Darvin added that Diab understands “the Darvin customer experience is a critical bar of measurement we have for ourselves,” and “we have great confidence that he will ensure our continued long-term success.”

In a release, Diab called Darvin “a living brand” and said, “I am excited to be part of leading our efforts as the premier furniture brand in the Chicago area.”

Darvin Furniture received a 2018 Leadership Award from Furniture Today and was a 2016 “Illinois Retailer of the Year” honoree of the Illinois Retail Merchants Assn.
