TJX recalls 21,500 drawer knobs due to laceration hazard

Items were sold at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods store locations

TJX knobFRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The TJX Companies has recalled about 21,500 ceramic and glass drawer knobs sold at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods stores due to a laceration hazard.

The recall also includes another 1,700 units sold in Canada, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The company conducted the recall voluntarily as part of the CPSC’s Fast Track Recall process, which allows companies work with the CPSC to initiate a recall and remedy to protect consumers.

TJX said it has received one report in the U.S. of a glass knob shattering when pulled, which resulted in lacerations to the consumer’s fingers.

The recall involves glass and ceramic drawer knobs that measure about 1.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches long. These were sold in sets of four and six in several styles including: Mercury Glass Crackled style, Bubble Glass style, Ceramic style (sold under the Instant Furniture brand), Cut Glass style (also sold under the Instant Furniture brand) and Glass style (sold under the Cynthia Rowley brand).

The Mercury Glass Crackled style, the Bubble Glass style and Glass style knobs were sold at HomeGoods, while the Ceramic style knobs were sold at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods and the Cut Glass style knobs were sold at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls.

Made in India, these were imported by the TJX Companies Inc. of Framingham, Mass., and sold at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods stores nationwide from October 2015 through October 2018 for between $5 and $10.

The CPSC has advised consumers to stop using these items immediately and return them to and T.J. Maxx, Marshalls or HomeGoods store for a full refund.
