WithIt increases number of scholarship awards

HIGH POINT — WithIt, the women’s leadership development network for the home and furnishings industries, will award 13 scholarships this year to young women from nine schools.

The increased number of scholarships is due to a $30,000 donation from the Heritage Home Group Charitable Trust earlier this year.

“The 2018 donation from Heritage Home Group’s Charitable Trust has enabled WithIt to continue its goal of mentoring and educating our next generation of leaders in the home industry,” said Pamela Thomas, WithIt’s 2018 president and supply chain director for Universal Furniture.

Along with a tuition scholarship, students receive an all-expense paid trip to WithIt’s annual professional conference in June. Conference participation affords students the opportunity to meet and network with women from the industry.

The 2018 recipients, receiving awards of varying amounts, are: Christina Brown, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, interior architecture; Emily Doll, Randolph Community College, interior design; Annina Fremgen, Kendall College of Art + Design, furniture design; Alyssa Gerasimoff, Rhode Island School of Design, furniture design; Mary Campbell Gray, Mississippi State University, interior design; Jasmine Gutbrod, Rhode Island School of Design, furniture design; Lauren Hopper, Meredith College, interior design; Kaitlin Huguley, Mississippi State University, interior design/architecture; Yi-En Lee, New York School of Interior Design, interior design; Amber McCullough, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, interior architecture; Ashley Odom, High Point University, interior design; Tiffany Zhou, New York School of Interior Design, interior design; and Holly Zhuoliang, Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY, home products development.

Since its inception in 1998, WithIt’s foundation has awarded more than $110,000 in tuition scholarships.
