NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Beidelman Furniture here is closing after 165 years in business.

The Naperville, Ill.-based retailer traces its beginnings back to 1861. A report by NCTV notes that it is the oldest business in DuPage County. The report notes that the retailer is closing because of “changing times” and that the family would elaborate at a later date.

Beidelman’s building, located at 239 S. Washington St., has been its home since 1928 and was named a historic landmark by the Naperville City Council in 2024.

In a Facebook post on April 16, Beidelman wrote “We will miss YOU!! Thank you for everything Naperville!!!”

The post noted that Beidelman’s last day of business will be April 29.
